Belts have been a popular item of clothing for a long time but it’s only in the last decade that they have become a vital part of the outfit. Due to the fashion of today belts are worn not to keep your trousers up but they are worn to give your body and your outfit shape. There are many different types of belts available today and they are worn in different ways, here is a look at some examples.

Waist Belts

A waist belt is a belt that is meant to fit around the waist to pull in what you are wearing to show off your figure. The style of today is to wear oversized clothing especially for girls and so you can be wearing a dress that is wide around the body but hugs your chest and legs, adding a waist belt as an accessory not only blings up the outfit but it gives your body a beautiful curvy look. Waist belts are generally wide and plain in colour but can be dazzled with diamante jewels and sequins or other designer add-ons.

Jeans Belts

These belts are meant to be worn with your jeans. The belt you wear with your jeans is not only for the purpose of holding them up but it is to show off as well, and this is true for men and women. A great outfit for a guy is a pair of rugged jeans, fashion trainers, t-shirt and a belt. The key to this outfit is to not hide the belt, tuck a little bit of the tshirt into the jeans so parts of the belt can be seen, this look is very funky and hip.

Work Belts

For women one of the looks today in work wear is to tuck in your shirt into your skirt or trousers. This means there is a great opportunity to wear a belt to show it off, this gives your outfit more shape and more style. Thin belts work best with this kind of outfit because you do not want to over power the outfit with a wide belt. A thin sparkly belt adds a little something to the outfit without it sticking out too much.
