Diesel Jeans - The History


Today Diesel is a very popular and well known brand mostly because of that of their diesel Jeans but more and more they are being recognized for their clothing and fragrances. The company was first created by Renzo Rosso in 1978. Renzo’s statement for the company was to make clothing that took chances and that was a one of its kind in its own field. This certainly explains the designs and styles of diesel Jeans and their other clothing range. Renzo was so focused on their mission statement to be different and to not follow the traditional fashion that he surrounded himself with creative designers that had similar design flairs as him. The Diesel company was first created in 1978 but it was in 1988 that the Diesel jeans brand took a turn for the better when Wilbert Das was hired who is currently head designer for the diesel label. Together they took diesel jeans and diesel clothing to the next stage and in 1996 it was a big milestone for them when their first store in New York City was opened. 

Diesel jeans are one of the most popular brands of jeans to date. The jeans are of amazing quality in the way that they are made and in the fabric that is used. Diesel jeans are most popular because of their styles and funky flair. Diesel have many different styles of jeans to choose from including bootcut, flair, straight, tapered, comfort, and skinny, and for each style there are many different options.

Diesel has approximately 2000 employees in 18 different locations across Europe, Asia and America. Diesel jeans and clothing are available in 5000 retail stores and 300 of these are actual Diesel stores. Annual sales were approximately £1.2 billion in 2005 and £1.3 billion in 2009. This revenue is largely made up from the diesel jeans collection but of course the other diesel clothing is extremely successful and influential.
