Jeans are probably the most popular item of clothes to date. Everyone has at least one pair of Jeans in there wardrobe if not a few others. Jeans are the bog standard item of clothing that you must have for other clothes to go with. What are Jeans exactly? Jeans are a pair of trousers that are made from denim. They were originally invented as work clothes for a workman but in the late 1950s and they became fashionable to wear for casual wear. Today there are thousands of brands of jeans but in the beginning the big contenders were Levi’s, Lee and Wrangler. Jeans are available in many different colours and styles. Blue jeans are probably the most popular colour choice and there are hundreds of styles to choose from and brands. You will find that jeans from different designers are cut and made differently which makes them feel different on the body. Finding a style and brand that fit you is great because you can always buy that brand and know that they will fit you perfectly.

Here comes the History

The material denim first originated in two different parts of the world the first being in France and in India, where sailors of Dhunga wore denim trousers which is wear the term dungarees came from. The word ‘jeans’ is a French phrase bleu de Gênes which translates as the blue of Genoa.

From this point onwards jeans have been a popular item of clothing. Everyone wears jeans from toddlers to teenagers to middle age to the elderly. Different styles of jeans are more appropriate to different age ranges. For example simple, boot cut designs are more for middle age rather than ripped, stone wash jeans which are more geared to the younger generation. Jeans are more commonly known for casual wear but today you can dress jeans up to be worn for evening wear as well.
